8-Week NCLEX Study Framework

Our read — this framework is SI Nursing's synthesis of what works, not official NCSBN guidance. The exam itself is described at ncsbn.org/nclex.

Phase 1 — Rebuild (weeks 1–3): repair content gaps
Wk 1
Pharmacology foundations: high-yield drug classes, must-know side/adverse effects, antidotes. 40–60 questions/day; log every miss by Client Needs area.
Wk 2
Safe, effective care: Management of Care + Safety. Prioritization, delegation, infection prevention. Explain answers aloud before checking.
Wk 3
Physiology catch-up: labs, diagnostics, acute conditions. Pair each condition with its first action and its delegation line.
Phase 2 — Integrate (weeks 4–6): clinical judgment
Wk 4
NGN formats on purpose: bow-tie, trend, cloze, SATA. One line of written rationale per item — the habit, not the volume.
Wk 5
Mixed, timed blocks (75 questions) across all eight areas. Review every miss the same day.
Wk 6
Checkpoint: full-length practice exam mid-week, then repair only what it exposed.
Phase 3 — Taper (weeks 7–8): arrive sharp
Wk 7
Polish the two weakest areas; one more full-length timed exam early in the week. Protect sleep.
Wk 8
Taper: your own miss log only, no new topics. Day before: no questions. Plan logistics, then rest.

The two rules that carry every week: (1) weight study toward the test plan's heaviest areas — Management of Care, Pharmacology, Physiological Adaptation; (2) never chase a total study-hours number — chase repaired weak areas.
