NCLEX Registration Checklist

Process described by NCSBN at ncsbn.org/nclex. State boards vary — confirm details with your board of nursing.

• Chose the state/jurisdiction where I am seeking licensure.
• Read that board's licensure instructions (fees, requirements, timelines).
• Submitted the board application and paid the board fee.
• Arranged education verification (transcripts sent by the program).
• Completed background check / fingerprinting as the board requires.
• Received confirmation of eligibility from the board.

• Registered for the exam through NCSBN and paid the exam fee.
• Registration name matches my government ID exactly.
• Received the registration confirmation email.

• Received the ATT email (candidate number + testing window).
• Scheduled the appointment at Pearson VUE inside the ATT window.
• Confirmed the appointment details and test-center location.
• Valid, unexpired government ID with matching name is ready.

If the ATT hasn't arrived: check eligibility with your state board first, then your spam folder and the email on your NCSBN registration. If an ATT expires before test day, you re-register and pay the exam fee again.
